Happy Birthday Akshay Kumar!

This goes back to my high school days when Saugandh was released and I became a fan of Akshay. My friends laughed at me and they had reasons to do so because Saugandh went on to be a flop film. For years, my friends and everyone in School enjoyed the Joke and the Joke was that I was a fan of Akshay. Oh! How I wish I could meet all those people today and remind them of the days, they used to poke fun at me.
It’s been 17 years and Tables have turned. Akshay Kumar has come a long way. Akki was born as Rajiv Bhatia to a middle class Punjabi Family. Today he is the King of Bollywood. From teaching Martial Arts to Modeling to acting, Akshay has done it all. Akki made his debut in Bollywood with Saugandh but his first major hit was Khiladi. Good times continued with Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Mohra, Yeh Dillagi. Then came the Khiladi series Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Mr and Mrs Khiladi and Akshay got the Khiladi Tag.
Akshay then started experimenting with his roles to get rid of his action hero image. Akshay proved his comic timing in Hera Pheri. Dhadkan showed the romantic side of Akshay and he got the best Villian award for his role in Ajnabee. With Ek Rishtaa, Aankhen, Bewafaa, Khakhee and Waqt - The Race Against Time, Akshay proved he could do justice to any role given to him. Akki’s versatility is laudable. Hits continued with comedy films like Awara Paagal Deewana, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, Jaan-E-Mann, Bhagam Bhag, Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome.
With Four consecutive hits in 2007, Akshay became the most bankable Star of Bollywood. However 2008 started with a bad note for Akshay. His first film of 2008, Tashan tanked at the Box Office. Akshay made up for the loss with Sinng is Kinng which has been declared a blockbuster. Here’s wishing A Very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Man who rose to this position with sheer hard work. Akshay Rocks!
